The Steward’s Party

St. Lawrence is one of the most popular saints in the Church’s history, especially in Rome. He is a patron of the city of Rome.

St. Lawrence giving the wealth of the Church to the poor. Note the dalmatic that he is wearing, which deacons still wear in the Liturgy (though, as you can see from everyone else’s clothing, everyone here is in Renaissance clothing).

St. Lawrence being grilled alive

A reliquary containing the remains of the grill that St. Lawrence was barbecued on in San Lorenzo in Lucina in Rome. For some reason, whenever we tried to visit this church, it was always closed.

The stone upon which St. Lawrence’s body was laid after his martyrdom. This stone is in St. Lawrence Outside the Walls in Rome.
