If you have not seen the great movie The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965), starring Charlton Heston as Michelangelo and Rex Harrison as the Warrior Pope Julius II, you really should watch it.
The Sistine Chapel, named after Julius II’s uncle, Pope Sixtus IV, has perhaps the most famous art in a single room in the world. Both the ceiling and the Last Judgement on the front wall were painted by Michelangelo.
